Giving Thanks!

I am just so excited to share with you my class's adorable bulletin board for November! The children worked so hard on it and the final product is just what I envisioned. I wish I could show you the whole bulletin board here, but I can't show all of their work and pictures. So, I will give you a little look into what the children did.

First the children were given a turkey pattern already copied onto construction paper. I then taught them how to use a large thumb tack to "pin punch" out the pattern. They had to punch out the turkey, his beak, his wattle, and his feathers. They got to choose the color of the feathers, but were asked to put them in a pattern. Here a picture of some children "pin punching" the turkey:

Here is a child pin punching the wattle:

This was so great for their fine motor!! Some of them did such a great job with the pin punching that the turkey just fell out of the other paper with no problem.

Next, the children had to think about something they are thankful for. They dictated their sentence to me, which I wrote down for them. They then had to copy their sentence and then glue their turkey on the corner of their paper. Here are some of the final products:

Aren't these just the cutest things? I was absolutely over the moon with how they turned out.

For the finishing touch I took pictures of all of the children and added their adorable little faces to the Create a Pilgrim clipart from Scrappin' Doodles. (www.scrappindoodles.com)

Oh my goodness, they make me smile every time I walk by them in the hallway!

There are so many things to be thankful for every day. Some days are harder than others, but there is always something good about it. What are you most thankful for today?
