Counting on Candy Corn includes math materials for teaching addition with sums up to 10. This activity uses ten frames with pictures to enhance children's understanding of addition. We have included materials for modeling, cooperative group practice, individual assessments, and a follow-up center activity. We have also included different levels of materials for finding sums, writing the whole equation, and finding the missing addend. Read on to get a look into this fun and engaging activity using the very adorable candy corn clipart from Scrappin' Doodles.

Children will look at the candy corn shown on the ten frame to find the sum of the equation provided. Children can use a dry erase marker to write the answer.

These ten frames show two different sets of candy corn dressed up and ready for Halloween. Children are to write the equation that matches the picture shown.

Here the children need to figure out the missing addend in the equation. You can use counters, candy corn erasers, real candy corn, or anything else you have available for the children to use to help them accomplish this task. They will fill the missing addend with a dry erase marker.

You can use these cards in so many different ways. You can differentiate your groups by giving one group the finding sums cards, while another group uses the writing equations cards, and one group has the missing addend cards. You could also give each group a sampling of each of the cards in order to practice all of the ways shown.
We have included three different assessments for you to use to meet the needs of your students. Each one is two pages which we copy back to back. You can use them to check for understanding, for reteaching in a small group setting, or even for homework!

We like to use real candy corn while making different combinations to make a sum. The children love the added bonus of getting to eat them when we are done! You can also use candy corn erasers, counters, or anything else you would like to use! We have included two different ten frame mats for you to choose from and a recording sheet too.

The first mat is your basic ten frame. Children can use this mat to count objects, make sets, add with sets of ten or less, or anything else you choose.

The second mat includes a place for the children to write the equation with a dry eraser marker after they have been laminated.

The next ten frame can act as an assessment or recording sheet. The children can use the ten frame on the paper to build their equations and then record them in the spaces provided below.

Our children love this center!
Children will match the top and middle sections of the candy corn by placing the correct numeral over the set shown. They will then add to solve each equation. We have included a recording sheet also. Children will record the equation next to the picture that matches their completed card.

We hope you enjoy our Counting On Candy Corn activities!
Thanks for visiting and have a great week!

Included in this fun and engaging pack are three literacy centers and three math centers. These adorable witches are just perfect to help your young learners during centers.
Children will look at the picture on each witch's dress. They will say the name out loud. They will then match the hat that has a word that rhymes with the one on her dress.

Children will look at the picture that is on each witch's hat. They will then clap, snap, or tap the word to determine how many syllables are in each word. They will then put the witch on the broom that has the correct number of syllables.
In this activity, children will read each sentence and find the witch it matches to. There are various sentences included. You can combine all or leave only the ones that meet the needs of your students.

Children will count the number of dots on the witches hat. They will then match it to the witch that has the matching number on her dress.

Also included (not pictured) are a non-standard measurement center and a center for visual discrimination to find similarities and differences among pictures of witches.

We hope your children find these centers to be engaging at this time of the year!

Our "Colors All Around" pack is full of books and activities that focus on different colors while also providing lots of practice on early reading strategies and fine motor skills. We love teaching these color activities in our classrooms. We focus on one color a day and have the children wear that color to add to the fun! We also choose a read aloud that coordinates with that color!

In this pack we have included a reproducible paint palette for you to run copies of the palettes on different colors of construction paper. You will also find clipart to go with each color that the children will color, cut out, and glue onto their paint palette. Clipart is included for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, pink, white, and black. We also run off an extra black paint palette that we use as the cover of the book.

Our reproducible color books are interactive and provide practice with coloring, cutting, gluing, left to right reading, tracking print, word matching, identifying high frequency words, and using picture clues! Wow! So many useful skills packed into one activity. There is a book and interactive picture clue pieces for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, pink, white, and black. Each book has a predictable text pattern with a variety of sight words for beginning readers. We have a lot of fun learning new words, putting our book together, and reading to a friend! Have you ever read The Deep Blue Sea by Audrey Wood?
We love to read this book during our Colors All Around unit. It is a great book to use for retelling, sequencing, and repetitive reading.

Included in this pack are retelling/sequencing pieces (both color and black/white), several writing response journals,
and an interactive reproducible book.
You and your students will have a blast retelling this story!

We like to copy the pieces onto colored construction paper, however, the children do need to color the rainbow for the end of the story:
Here they are retelling the story by adding the pieces in order.
The final product:

Here, one child is coloring the interactive book pieces...

Then, matching words to add picture clues to the book...

Finally, they are tracking print and using picture clues while reading.

We also have a PowerPoint in our store to give the children a visual to help them while they are sequencing. You can check it out here.

We hope you enjoy this story and activity pack on super sale this week!
