12 in 12 Linky!

We are so excited to be joining in the Linky Fun!!

A Teeny Tiny Teacher and Miss Kindergarten are throwing a fun 12 in 12 Linky Party!! Do you want to join? All you have to do is think back to your favorite things of  2012! It's that easy! C'mon, you know you want to! You can use the prompts they suggest or they say you can change it up a little too.

So....since we are kindergarten teachers and sometimes like to walk to a different beat, we thought we would do things just a little different.

We are going to use the letters in the word KINDERGARTEN to help tell about our favorite memories of the last year!

Kelly and Kim's Kreations!
We are so proud of this accomplishment!! We have been talking for years about how we would love to sell our ideas and share with others and make a little money on the side too. We are so glad it finally happened!! We are proud of our little store, our facebook page, and our blog!
Incredible Milkshake!!!
We just have to profess our love for the Chick-Fil-A Peppermint Chocolate Chip Milkshake!!! If you haven't had one, run out and get one now!! They will make you feel better!!
No Nonsense! (in a good way)
This summer we were so excited when we were making our new no cost reward system that we couldn't wait to implement them in our classrooms (Terrific Tickets). We have both had great success with them! The children love them and it is fun to see them saving up their jungle animals to earn their favorite reward. Kelly's class seems to really like the Stuffed Sidekick reward and my class is loving Lucky Lunch! We have some rewards that are worth 10 jungle animals and some that are worth 20 jungle animals. It really has helped with behaviors, they try really hard to earn animals!
Here is an example of one of the jungle animals:
Here are the two favorite tickets!
DSLR Cameras!!!!
We both took the plunge and upgraded our tried and true point and shoot cameras. Wow!! What a difference a new camera makes. We are loving taking pictures and learning new things. Sometimes my head just spins with all the settings, but we are getting better every day!
Oh how we love technology!!! I think we would both be lost without our computers!
I also just love my nook. I was never a big
reader until I purchased this little tablet. It is a ton of fun and I have truly become an avid reader because of it.
Kelly loves her iPad too, another great little tablet! It's been great for school and for home! :) Her daughter loves to play learning games on it as well.
The SmartBoard was the new toy in my classroom this year. While it has taken a little time to adjust, it is pretty incredible technology! I hope Kelly gets one in her room soon too!

We are always keeping our eye out for new books to read to our students. We always have our favorites that we read every year, but every now and then we come across a new find. This year we found two new ones that we are very excited about. They are both books about some of our favorite characters that we read about often. Check them out if you haven't already!
Girls that make us giggle!!!
This is Kelly's daughter, Hanna!! How precious is she?? She is such a funny girl! She is spunky, full of life, and definitely has a mind of her own! Kelly is very blessed with this one. :)
And this little my cat, Lexi!! She is funny! I have never been a cat person and rescued this little thing from the cold outside and I have just fallen in love with her. This picture always make me laugh. I was taking her picture and at the moment I pushed the button, she yawned!
Awesome Clipart!!
We absolutely LOVE Scrappin' Doodles!! This was one of our best finds this year. We have always been huge Carson Dellosa clipart fans, but since we couldn't use it in our products we sell, we had to go elsewhere. Scrappin' Doodles is the best there is! :)
Restaurant Lunch Dates!
Who doesn't love a night out with friends from time to time? We love to go to Mexican restaurants any time we can! Our closest one is Plaza Tapatia! So much fun to eat chips and salsa and have some great laughs with great company!
Teachers Pay Teachers!!
What a great find this has been for us this year!! We love our new store and making new products! Sometimes we are a little obsessed and that's all we want to do, but then reality hits and we realize that we still have to clean, go to the grocery store, and make dinner!!! Haha!!
Exclamation Marks!!!
Can you tell how much we love them? We overuse them, that's for sure!! But they are so much fun!!! Go ahead, try them out, we are sure they will make you smile!!!
New Beginnings!!
This year Kelly and her family bought a new house!! How exciting is that?!?! They are also expecting their second child in February!! We also had new beginnings with our new classes of wonderful five year olds, a new curriculum (excitement or no?), a new TpT store, and a new blog!! We are looking for many more new beginnings to come!

Holiday Linky Party!!

It is almost December!!! Yay!! What an exciting time of the year! Can you feel the excitement already in your classroom? We surely can!! My students asked me to play Christmas music today and I told them they had to wait until Monday, let's get through November first. Haha!! I love the Christmas music but am not ready for the wild rumpus to start quite yet!
What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
Join in on the linky fun and see what everyone else is talking about!!
Here are some of our FAVORITE holiday books we read every year with our students.

A Very Marley Christmas (Marley Series)
Who doesn't love this adorable, mischievous dog?
Merry Christmas, Big Hungry Bear!
What do you give a big hungry bear for Christmas?
Here are some of our FAVORITE activities to do during our holiday party!
After making reindeer food, the children make this cute Rudolph bag to store the reindeer food until Christmas Eve!

This one is a lot of fun! Before the children sponge paint the Christmas tree we punch holes all over the tree. After the paint dries, the children turn glue different colors of tissue paper on top of the holes. When you hang it in the window and the sun shines through the holes, it looks like the tree is all lit up! It is so much fun to see the children's faces light up too!

Here are some of our new FAVORITE activities we just put up for sale in our TpT store:

Sounds of the Season is a fun activity for your students to practice identifying the beginning sounds of pictures and placing them on the correct Christmas tree. You can check them out here:
Stockings Hung by the Chimney with Care is another fun activity for your students practice spelling CVC words. Children will look at the picture in the fireplace and then hang the correct stockings to spell the matching word. Look for it here:
Happy Holidays to all of you!!!

Hurricane Sandy = Productive Time Off

Hurricane Sandy has come and gone...she brought with her lots of wind and lots of rain. She also gave us two days off from school. While I am sad that we are already using days off, I would much rather everyone stay home and stay safe. We hope everyone that was/is in Sandy's path is safe, dry, and not in the dark.
We used our day off work yesterday to make some new activities for our Teachers Pay Teachers store. Even though we have lesson plans to write and report cards to finish, making stuff for our store is so much more fun!
As the leaves were outside flying around wrecklessly, we were inside making a new activity to with There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves. This lovely lady joins the other "Ladies" already in our store (Swallowed a Bat, Swallowed a Fly, Swallowed a Shell). Our students love these activities!!
We added a math activity with this one too! The unit includes: Old Lady retelling pieces (color and bw), Old Lady for retelling (color and bw), three different writing journals for your to choose from, and a leaf hunt math lesson. Included in the leaf hunt lesson:
**an exploration of tally marks and sets
**materials for the teacher to model how to collect data by using tally marks and answer questions
**leaves to hide around your classroom so your children can go on a leaf hunt
**data collection sheet for the children to record how many leaves they find
**graph for children to display their data and answer questions

Please visit our store to check it out! Stay safe and dry everyone!

Wow!! It has been a long time since we have been to our little blog to update anything. We have been feeling very overwhelmed with the new school year and with this new core curriculum. This picture just about sums it up. Hee hee!
How is everyone else holding up??

We are amazed at how many of you are so good at keeping up your blog and your TpT store. What are your secrets? We are all ears!

The school year has been a good one as far as the children. Kelly and I both have great classes this year, each with their own challenge of course. We are struggling with the demands of a new curriculum, new math program, schedule conflicts, and meetings. I am sure everything you are experiencing as well.

We are working to get some new things up into our TpT store and will hopefully be updating the blog more often. As a rule, how often does everyone try to post to their blog? I really enjoy doing it, it is the time factor that is the issue.

Hope everyone is doing well out there in "blog land" and I am looking forward to catching up on reading your posts as well!

No Cost Rewards

Classroom there an instruction manual? classroom management techniques are always changing, as I am sure yours are too. Some years what I do works beautifully and other years I really have to get creative. This past year I was constantly trying to find that perfect thing that would work for some of my students. I loved them all dearly, but some were a little harder than others. As a teacher, I always feel like, what am I doing wrong? How can I help this child to be successful and want to learn?! Kelly and I sat down and came up with a reward system that we are going to implement this year and see how it fits in with our already existing classroom management techniques. The best part about this reward system is that it cost us NO money at all! These Terrific Tickets are in our Teachers Pay Teachers store for only $2!! We are super excited about it. Here is a sample of three of the tickets:
You can find them here in our store:

We also have a school-wide positive behavior system through PBIS, but we are always trying to find new and fun ways to get children motivated.
