Our "All About Addition Pack" has a variety of different whole group, small group, and individual assessments on addition facts and composing and decomposing sets through whole group lessons, cooperative learning activities, games, and skill sheets. Bonkers for Bones
This activity includes materials for exploration, cooperative groups, and an assessment. Each dog in this activity wants ten bones, but they will only eat bones that match the color words under their pictures. They will need to find the two ten frames that show bones of those colors and place them on the correct dog’s mat. They will then show the two sets in number form in the part/part/whole chart. They will then write a number sentence for both representations.  Great activity to get their minds working!

Apple Trees and Bees Addition
This activity includes materials for exploration, modeling, cooperative groups, and an individual assessment.
Children will work together in groups to match apples and bees to the correct numbered apple tree. Each apple will have a representation of a number in the form of sets, ten frames, or part/part/whole. Children will determine which numeral is represented and place the apple on the correct tree. They will then read the number sentences on each bee and match the bee with the correct apple on the apple tree.

Happy Houses Fact Families
There are many ways in which you can play this game. We like to put the children in groups in different locations in the classroom. Each group will be given a house with a different sum on it. The groups will be given time at each house to come up with a number sentence for that sum. We give them either a ten frame or a part/part/whole mat to help them come up with equations. We also make sure they have access to unifix cubes, number lines, and dry erase boards. They will record it on the space provided. We then like to rotate groups to give each group the opportunity to add a new equation. 
We have also added large house pictures and number sentence cards for each sum. This activity can also completed in a classroom learning center with the large houses and number sentence cards for students to sort onto each house with the correct sum. The children really enjoy this activity as a fast finisher center. 

Addition Avenues Game
Children will work in groups to line up their streets from 1 to 10. Each group will have a bag of equations to sort among the different scenes. We like our children to use number lines to help them find the sum of each equation. We always have other tools available to them as well.
We often will let the children play this game as a race against the other groups. We have them start with the first street and fill in the sums before moving on to the next. We also have just let them work with their partners to sort the equations in any fashion they would like. The children really enjoy the fun scenes and love when they are successful in solving the equations. When played as a game it is fun to see their competitive nature come out. Enjoy!

Mousey Math Addition and Graphing
Children will work in cooperative learning groups to solve addition equations. We encourage our children to use ten frame mats, part-part-whole mats, counters, and unifix cubes to help solve equations. Children should sort their equations onto the mouse sorting mat with the correct sum. Groups will then make a tally mark on their recording sheets beside the correct sum. After solving and tallying each of their equations, groups will graph how many equations they had for each sum on their “Mouse Munchies” graph.  Children can then analyze the data shown on their graph about their addition equations and sums, such as which sums were most or least, if any sums had equal numbers of equations, and so on.

Calculating Cubes
Children will work together in cooperative groups for this activity. Each group will be given three recording sheets for decomposing 7, 8, and 9 and a set of Unifix cubes. They will work together to manipulate the Unifix and make different combinations. They will then write their number sentences on the recording sheet provided.
